I was sick of looking at my husband’s same pair thread bare shorts every summer. So I bit the bullet & bought him 3 pairs of new ones. These ones are a really light weight, with an integrated belt & a handy deep zip pocket. Perfect for some of the really hot days we’ve experienced. Just the right length for an older gentleman who is convinced that not everyone wants to see his legs, having said that, these have been worn a lot since I bought them.

I received a pair of these in brown for my birthday. They are extremely comfy, with the stretchy fabric providing both a good fit (quite slim) and plenty of room when moving. The top load front pockets are great and mean you’re less likely to lose your phone/wallet when seated. I like that the pockets are made of the same fabric, I find mesh pockets annoying and they never last. If they weren’t a gift, not sure I would have paid the £80 for a pair of outdoor/active shorts (or maybe it’s a sign of the times). I will be looking out for the black pair in the sales!
Gripes/improvements for next version:
- The fly zip is short, I need to unbutton to use it, it could do with being 1inch longer (the zip that is).
- the double button is unnecessary and would prefer a single (esp because I’m using them a lot, as above)
- In size 34, I’d like 1cm more leg length.
- the back pocket is handy, make it two!
