It’s More Than Trees: Community Days & New Growth

“We’ve been planting trees pretty much from day one at Passenger, that’s over 2 million trees to date. I also love planting some myself, it's something I look forward to every time. Having some of our team and community come along, planting another 150 in the ground - it’s that bit extra special.”

~ RICH SUTCLIFFE, FOUNDER

A few weeks back, we put the word out to our Roamers Collective, inviting them to a morning of tree planting and giving back to the wild in East Sussex. True to our roots, we like to get our hands dirty now and then, putting saplings into soil and learning more about the good work of our charity partners.

This time around, Ayla and Matt were joined by Founder Rich and a handful of community members volunteering their time and energy to the tree planting cause. With that, we want to say a big thank you to everyone who picked up a shovel and got involved: Karina, Jess, Sandra, Nathaniel, Laura, Roshin, and Toni. You’re all legends in our eyes.

It was awesome to pick back up with Toni, the Founder of London-based outdoor community group for queer women and non-binary people of colour, Touch Grass. Read Camp Letters: Ascending Mam Tor with Touch Grass for more from her.

"Nothing beats a day spent giving back to nature. Had an amazing time tree planting, meeting some of the Roamers Collective, and getting our hands dirty for a good cause. More days like this, please!"

“It was special not just for connecting with people but giving something back to the community and, most importantly, Mother Nature. Everyone started the day with a smile, and everyone finished the day with an even bigger smile - that says it all.”

~ SANDRA, ROAMERS COLLECTIVE

It has never been a tick-box exercise, throwaway statement or breakable promise. We’re serious about trees - setting good, strong roots for the future and supporting those that help to protect them. Trees, woodlands, forests, groves, and wild green spaces—the natural landscapes that allow us to escape the everyday. We couldn’t roam without you.

Here’s a snippet of the day as it played out, with lots of smiles and a not-too-serious approach to the job at hand.

Enjoy.

“Who knew a day of digging in the dirt could feel so meaningful? Planting trees with fellow Roamers reminded me how easy it is to make a real impact when you’re surrounded by the right people and a shared purpose. It was a great day!”

~ NATHANIEL, ROAMERS COLLECTIVE

True to our roots, for every order we plant a tree. This isn’t to say we’ve cracked it, we’re still learning, listening and trying to do better. Protecting the places we play — where we feel most free. Patrons of the wild woods and rainforests with long-time conservation partners Trees for the Future and Rainforest Trust.
